The Australian art + collectibles marketing pattern.
Australian art + collectibles brands have a structurally specific dual-tier marketing pattern. B2C retail layer (prints, gifts, accessories) sells at one price tier; collector / gallery wholesale layer sells at a higher tier with different commercial logic. Gillie and Marc is the worked example, Shopify with company accounts for the wholesale layer.
Five art-B2C-specific disciplines
1. Two-tier price architecture
B2C retail tier (prints, gifts, accessories): -. Collector / gallery wholesale tier: -. Same Shopify backend handling both tiers via company accounts + customer-specific catalogues.
2. International audience expansion
Australian art brands often have international audiences (Gillie and Marc has US + UK collector base). Shopify Markets multi-region pricing + multi-currency + region-specific catalogues. Different from purely-Australian B2C brands where Markets isn't activated.
3. Gallery + exhibition cadence
Art brands operate on gallery + exhibition cycles. Marketing programmes align with exhibition opening + closing dates, gallery-show timing, art-fair calendars. Calendar-aligned creative + paid campaign cadence rather than flat-monthly.
4. Collector audience segmentation
Klaviyo segmentation distinguishing retail-buyer segments from collector segments. Different creative + content + cadence per segment. Collectors get exhibition previews, edition-release notifications, gallery-show invitations. Retail buyers get gift-occasion campaigns, accessibility-priced print releases.
5. Provenance + authentication content
Collectors care about edition numbers, signing protocols, certificate-of-authenticity provenance. Marketing content that surfaces authentication discipline, edition-tracking, archival quality. Generic B2C marketing content doesn't address collector concerns.
The Gillie and Marc pattern
