The Australian recruitment marketing discipline.

By Adam Ducquet · 23 June 2026 · 3 min read

Recruitment marketing has shifted from HR-team responsibility to flagship paid-media programme across multiple Australian verticals. Healthcare GP supply, industrial FIFO + trades, allied health practitioner attraction. Why the shift happened, what the discipline looks like, what the budgets are.

Why the shift happened

Three structural pressures converged through 2023-2026:

  1. Healthcare GP supply shortage. RACGP-documented training-pipeline-output below replacement for the practising GP workforce. PE consolidation surfaced the shortage to the operational-bottleneck level.
  2. Industrial FIFO labour market tightening. Mining services + drilling supply at all-time-tight levels. WA-specific labour competition intensified.
  3. Allied health practitioner shortage. Physiotherapists, dietitians, OTs, psychs, supply tight, demand growing.

In each case, the operational ceiling on growth shifted from demand-side (acquiring more customers) to supply-side (acquiring more practitioners). Marketing budgets followed.

Six recruitment marketing disciplines

1. Recruitment as separate paid-media programme

Separate ad accounts from patient-acquisition / customer-acquisition. Separate creative review pipelines. Separate management fees. Separate KPI reporting. The For Health pattern, two distinct a flat management fees on every monthly invoice for patient + GP recruitment programmes.

2. SEEK as paid-media channel

SEEK is the dominant Australian recruitment platform. Treated as a paid-media channel with the same management discipline as Google Ads, campaign structure, conversion tracking, A/B variant testing.

3. LinkedIn Recruiter for senior + specialist supply

Senior-clinician + senior-engineer + senior-tradie recruitment via LinkedIn Recruiter + Sponsored InMail to specific named cohorts. High-intent, high-cost, high-ROI when targeted with discipline.

4. Per-clinic / per-region landing pages

per page (PH Medical pattern). Tied to specific clinics, regions, cohorts. Conversion-optimised intake forms, role-specific compensation framing, location-specific cultural framing.

5. Application-funnel reporting

Cost per qualified application, cost per signed offer, channel-attributed application source, time-to-fill per role per location. Same operational discipline as patient-acquisition reporting, applied to the supply side.

6. Employer-brand positioning content

Why join us vs competitors. Lifestyle storytelling, clinical-autonomy framing, partnership pathway clarity. Long-form content for passive candidates, short-form Meta paid social for awareness.

Indicative budgets

  • Multi-clinic primary care GP recruitment: $10K-$30K/month management spend (a flat fee on cost)
  • FIFO industrial recruitment: $5K-$15K/month management spend
  • Allied health practitioner recruitment: $3K-$10K/month management spend
